Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible-- a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if that weren't embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She'd left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.
Bliss is a character I will definitely not be forgetting anytime soon, her comical mannerisms and paranoia grabbed my attention from the start. I absolutely loved the way she thinks, seriously being inside her head and hearing her thinking process was funny as hell.
Was he trashing my place because I'd run out and left him there like the biggest jerk this side of Kanye West at the 2009 VMA's?
Sex.
I was going to have sex.
With a boy.
A hot boy
A hot BRITISH boy.
Or maybe I was going to throw up.
What if I threw up on the hot British boy?
What if I threw up on the hot British boy DURING SEX?
Cade, Cade, Cade, Cade, CADE. God but I loved him! I felt so bad for him, but at the same time I was like get your own mate. He is the bestest guy friend any girl could ever ask for, he’s sweet, caring, considerate and just plain awesome. I really hope he gets his own story with his own little HEA, because despite rooting for Team Garrick I still really, really love little old Cade.
As for Garrick *deep breath*, just whoa! I mean this dude is gorgeous, no word of a lie. The big draw for many readers including Bliss herself, is his accent ‘cause well he’s British. However since I'm British myself I can’t really say I find British accents sexy…but I still fell terribly in love with the old chap, there’s just something about him. I was worried about the kind of character he’d be and his whole relationship with Bliss, because I just kept picturing Sylvian Reynard’s ‘Gabriel’s Inferno’ student-teacher romance and well let’s just say I wasn’t seeing good things. However allow me to reassure you that despite being Bliss’s Professor, there is not one thing sketchy about him or their romance. Furthermore this isn’t a book where the girl runs and the guy chases her like a lost puppy trying to show her how great they’d be together, no this is a simple yet beautiful story of two people liking each other and trying to make the best out of their situation. Garrick is a great friend, advisor and professor who only had Bliss’s best interest at heart, and I loved him all the more for it.
Bliss, I don’t normally do things like that. But I was second-guessing everything about coming here, and you were everything I needed. I don’t
know how many times I’ve stopped myself from coming over here and knocking on your door. And yes, seeing you with Cade was definitely motivation, but more than that… I
just like you, Bliss. As a teacher. As a person. As a guy.
For a New Adult Contemporary Romance, this is as good as it gets my minions. It’s fresh, original, funny, light and just plain old fun to read. It has its fair share of drama, kissing, romance, comedy, angst and a whole load off ooh la la. Another positive is that there is NO corny ending, but rather a kick-ass epilogue. I give this book 5 humongous stars and not only strongly recommend it but actually like really urge you to read this book, it will definitely make your 2013 best reads, it sure as hell did for me and that was after only really reading the first three chapters.
